Pretty tasty brew that Black Butte Porter. It's not really local, but that's fine. Couldn't find the other ones in the store.
If I really want to go for a local dark beer, I would get the Raven's Eye Imperial Stout from Eel River Brewing company or the Belgian Porter from Redwood Curtain. Now those two are awesome local beers.
Anyway, I figured I should nurture my beard the last 24 hours with some dark beer.
Also, to everyone out there, if you're considering donating, please do so.
We got one more day to go, and every donation would help. Just pick one of these handsome beards and sponsor! We will all be thankful.
And I wonder, what shall I do with my beard? Do I keep it for another year?
I kinda enjoyed it after last Beards4Boobs event, and I even went for a big bushy beard during the summer. You know, the kind that instills fear and demands respect.
Ah, we shall see. I'll probably keep it during the winter though. Nice chin warmer.
Phew, busy Thanksgiving days, but the turkey was excellent.
We opted for a Indian style Tandoori flavored turkey. First time we worked with an oven bag too, and it worked very well.
I created the spice mixture the evening before Thanksgiving and had the bird marinating overnight. So much flavor packed in there.
Now I finally got around to making another post here. A few more days left for donations. Come on everybody, make it count!
That innocent looking jar next to me in the picture is a jar of Mick's Ghost Pepper Jelly. That's right. Bhut Jolokia, in jelly form.
Now I am far from a rookie when it comes to eating spicy stuff. In fact I love all things hot and spicy, but that jelly is one mean condiment. About half a teaspoon of that stuff on a cream cheese bagel is a serious heat kick that will have your taste buds burning for about half an hour to 45 minutes.
I figured that eating hot food and getting my face all warm and sweaty would be a good way to encourage some beard grow.
Onward to beardiness!
This is my trying-to-push-beard-out-of-skin/slightly-diabolical face combo.
Or it could be a very constipated look, that works too.
I know trying to forcefully push a beard out doesn't work, but wasn't there an old remedy that claimed beardgrow was stimulated by putting mustard on your chin/upper lip?
Seems kinda weird to me, but so do most of those folk remedies.
Ah well, onward with the beard, tomorrow with a less creepy face.
Oh, and as I suspected, the spicy hard candy I made is only gaining in strength. It's almost as if the capsaicin reacts with the sugar, and the more it sits, the hotter it gets. Win-win if you ask me :-)
Can you see it? Can you tell? That's beard fed with spicy chili candy.
Yesterday I created a batch of habanero-raspberry hard candy. Pretty good stuff, although I'm tempted to try and ramp up the spice level.
Perhaps double the amount, or try and create a batch of Ghost Chili flavored candy. That would be a nice kick.
*munches on another piece of candy*
Yay Birthday! And a day off from work!
Yes that is correct, I was born in November, and looking at pictures from those days, my dad would have been a worthy contestant in the Beards4Boobs event. Man, such a big bushy hippie beard (still love you dad :-) )
The misses and I just came back from a tasty dinner at a place called Bless My Soul Cafe. Creole and Soul food made from scratch with local ingredients. Was that ever good. Crawfish & Sausage Etouffee for my wife and Jerk Fried Chicken with caramelized banana for me.
Now to sit back with a glass of Single Malt whiskey.
And thanks for the Birthday wishes Duane!
